Singular constrained linear systems

In the linear system Ax = b the points x are sometimes constrained to lie in a given subspace S of column space of A. Drazin inverse for any singular or nonsingular matrix, exist and is unique. In this paper, the singular consistent or inconsistent constrained linear systems are introduced and the effect of Drazin inverse in solving such systems is investigated. Constrained linear system arise ...

Special linear systems and syzygies

LetX be the base locus of a linear system L of hypersurfaces in Pr(C). In this paper it is showed that the existence of linear syzygies for the ideal of X has strong consequences on the fibres of the rational map associated to L. The case of hyperquadrics is particularly addressed. The results are applied to the study of rational maps and to the Perazzo’s map for cubic hypersurfaces.

Symmetric singular linear control systems

using the group inverse, an explicit solution to a symmetric singular system is described. The general explicit solution is derived when the symmetric singular system satisfies the regularity condition. Certain special properties of these singular systems are presented. Finally, a symmetric balanced realization is obtained from an equivalent standard control system. @ 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd....

Finding Rational Points on Bielliptic Genus 2 Curves

We discuss a technique for trying to find all rational points on curves of the form Y 2 = f3X + f2X + f1X + f0, where the sextic has nonzero discriminant. This is a bielliptic curve of genus 2. When the rank of the Jacobian is 0 or 1, Chabauty’s Theorem may be applied. However, we shall concentrate on the situation when the rank is at least 2. In this case, we shall derive an associated family ...
